“A.I.G.” = “arrogance, incompetence and greed”

That's what Representative Paul Hodes, Democrat of New Hampshire, said today.

Whoa. This A.I.G. mess just gets, well, messier and messier, doesn't it?

Overwhelmed? Outraged? Confused? Duped? All of the above? Yeah, you and every other taxpayer/shareholder. But fear not, this latest bit of news offers some comic relief: AIG Chief Edward M. Liddy offers a solution to this whole mess--simply ask some of the recipients of the bonuses to give back half of the money! There! All better! Because that get's to the heart of the problem, now doesn't it?

Um, nope. What's the real problem? This post by Chris Bowers at OpenLeft goes a long way in answering that question. Check it out.

Did Barney Frank ask Sen. Dodd to give back the over $100,000 he took from AIG for his campaign in returb for insterting the language to protect the bonus into the bill? Can we ask for the salaries back from every member of Congress who voted for the bill since the obviously didn't read it. Can I get my tax dollars back for all the other things in the bill that they didn't read?
