Doctor commits health fraud, gets 16 years

From A federal judge today sentenced a Detroit doctor to more than 16 years in prison for health care fraud, saying crimes like his are making health insurance unaffordable and threatening the viability of major employers such as the automotive industry. Experts estimate about $100 billion a year is lost nationally to health insurance fraud. According to DetroitNews.Com, Vice President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan told the court: "The real victims of these crimes are the citizens of Michigan and the employers who provide health care benefits... Unfortunately, the costs of fraud get passed on to each and every one of us." (Read Article)
