Conference on Civil Rights

"Many of us believe that our civil rights are protected, but the reality is they are under attack. In recent years, there has been a retreat from rigorous enforcement of civil rights laws and a narrowing of the ability of ordinary Americans to vindicate their rights in court. The American ideal of equality of opportunity cannot be achieved with a system of rights without remedies. We must reclaim our civil rights."

This is why groups like the ACLU, the Alliance for Justice, the NAACP-LDF, The Asian American Justice Center, National Council of La Raza, National Women's Law Center, and many, many more organizations have gathered together at a regional conference on civil rights--Why We Can't Wait: Reversing the Retreat on Civil Rights in Durham, NC. Convened by the National Campaign to Restore Civil Rights, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund, NCCU Law School, UNC Law School, and Duke Law School, the conference brings together students, lawyers, activists, and others who think it's important to protect and preserve equal justice.

I'm here today but will try to update TortDeform as time permits.
