Update on Toy Recalls

Update on Mattel recalls in the NY Times today.

Mattel apologized personally to Chinese product safety chief Li Changjiang in addition to "the Chinese people, and all of our customers who received the toys," for placing too much blame on Chinese manufacturers and not enough on the American design defects to which most of the dangers are attributable. From the Times: "In fact, new research from two business professors shows that recalls due to problems with the U.S. maker's design accounted for the vast majority -- about 76 percent -- of the 550 U.S. toy recalls since 1988."
