The Tortellini: Second Wave Tort “Reform”
From the Tortellini:
It's the process, stupid. While doctors may have paved the way for caps on noneconomic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits across the country, I've often thought that caps were a strange thing on which to focus their energy, given that 1) they doesn't lower their insurance premiums and 2) it gives the other side a chance to make its best case by bringing out all the victims of medical malpractice who wouldn't be able to sue with the caps in place. The victims help make the debate highly emotionally charged and the doctors occasionally lose as a result. (keep reading)

I agree. If I am sick or in pain, I do not want to address a partisan political question, thrust in my face in the waiting room. If I can handle such, I am probably not sick enough to be there anyway. Leave sick people alone. And, I don't appreciate a sleazy call for ambulance chasing, if I'm in pain.
This is more proper. A coalition of all productive sectors of our economy should organize a database of lawyers. Then all lawyers should be refused service and products by all providers. There is no duty to provide service or product to a mortal enemy seeking the destruction of one's life. Bar associations of each state list the active licensed lawyers. For example, a heating specialist gets a call, a boiler is not working, in 10 degree temperature. He looks up the name and address. It comes up, office of a lawyer. He calls back, saying he will not be coming.
Should a Jewish tailor be forced to fit a skinhead for an SS uniform? Should a black dressmaker be forced to sew a KKK hood and robe? Should a licensed psychologist rape victim be forced to run therapy groups for rapists? It is a matter of human rights and freedom. All productive sectors are under lethal attack by the lawyer. They have every right to boycott the pitiless, mortal adversary.
