NEW YORK -- The Rev. Al Sharpton threatened Sunday to file a class-action lawsuit over a reported fivefold increase over the number of people stopped and frisked by city police.The New York Times reported Saturday that the New York Police Department stopped more than 500,000 people last year, more than five times as many as they did just four years before.
According to the report, 55 percent of the people stopped last year were black and more than 30 percent were Hispanic."We're not half the population in the city," Sharpton said during a sermon at St. Luke Baptist Church in Harlem. "How do we get stopped and frisked half, other than there is a measure of profiling based on race that permeates in the NYPD?" (link)

Even though Sharpton has become America's most visible gladiator against bigotry, real or imagined, somehow he manages to accommodate certain prominent bigots (the kind he would publicly condemn, if only they were white)

1.Khalid Muhammad ->Gay-basher, Jew-hater, anti-Catholic -> "an articulate and courageous brother." Of Sharpton
2. False Rape accuser Tawana Brawley -> Sharpton went ahead and slandered and defamed one of the innocent men supposedly involved and never apologized "No apology for standing up for civil rights."
3. Freddy's Fashion Mart Fiasco "We will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business."
Should people at all listen to him and take him seriously.It is frustrating that Al Gore, Bill Bradley, and Hillary Clinton, to name just a few—when they need black votes—make the pilgrimage to Harlem to kiss the reverend's ring
