Scruggs Katrina Blog: Taking care of business

From the Scruggs Katrina Blog:

Taking care of business

Today was a great day for the Mississippi Gulf Coast and one of the proudest in my life. Members of SKG had the honor of sitting down with and handing out insurance settlement checks to many of our State Farm clients who were victims of Hurricane Katrina. It was rewarding to see the happiness and sense of relief in their eyes. This was just the first day as we distribute more payments over the next week.

It was good to finally hear plans on how the money would help to construct a new home, pay stacks of bills or get a business back up and running. The determination and desire to rebuild was incredible. We hope everybody in the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast region receives proper restitution and an opportunity to start again.

Perhaps the news that hundreds of families got settlements they were happy with, will help the court and others overcome objections to the proposed class action resolution agreement. We long for the day when other families who were dissatisfied with their insurance payments but did not file suit will know the same relief. We’re very proud of this moment and look to the months ahead and the chance to press on. (link)
